ARTEK

Studio EMMI provides a wide range of design services on an on-going basis for Artek, one of the most recents projects being the design of the entire Artek product catalogue. The graphics explain and celebrate the products’ beauty and functionality alongside the more rigid technical specifications and product information.

Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Advocating a new kind of environment for everyday life, they believed in a grand synthesis of the arts and wanted to make a difference in town planning as well as architecture and design. Today, while still deeply rooted in these values, Artek has entered a new era, combining the radical ideology of the founders with a modern and dynamic approach to product development.
