GREEN ISSUES

We take pride in working with clients whose core message we believe in and share: the environment, a better future, generating hope and inspiration, equal opportunities and
human rights. All things good.
-
To get a big message across, we immerse ourselves in
the details.

Practice
As a design practice, we have a studio full of paper. All of this we recycle, after using both sides and all corners. Some of it we send back into circulation, like
all the envelopes sent to us. Needless to say we recycle all else possible too and make sure we cycle to meetings – when we can.

We are signatories of the Mayor of London’s Green Procurement Code.

Paper & Print
We make careful consideration when choosing paper, opting for recycled or more sustainably sourced options as often as possible. We also choose to
work closely with printers who are CarbonNeutral®, with FSC and ISO14001 certifications, printing with vegetable-based inks.

Common Good
We donate our design time to specific projects and small organisations and charities which wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to create professionally designed printed material. To find out how your organisation can take part in our 'Common Good' scheme, email us.

Giving Back
We are committed to supporting young talent within the creative industries. This means holding regular portfolio reviews including career advice. We give one to two work placement opportunities yearly to design students and recent graduates. Emmi Salonen is a sessional tutor at the Ravensbourne University and lectures regularly across the UK.

Awards
Studio EMMI is a recipient of the 2009 Ideas that Matter awards. Sappi's Ideas that Matter programme awards grants worth US$1 million each year to graphic designers globally, enabling them to promote their chosen social, environmental or humanitarian causes.

We believe that the creative ideas of designers can have an impact far beyond the design world. Ideas can mobilise the world for the better. We used our grant for design and print of the Catalyst Inspiring Arts Ideas for Teachers campaign.

Catalyst Inspiring Arts Ideas for Teachers has been developed by the Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts in response to a lack of training for teachers in how to incorporate and teach the arts in school especially at primary school level. Engaging with the arts enriches young people’s lives, nurtures creativity and improves children’s self esteem and skills. Children & the Arts helps young people who would otherwise grow up having had no, or very limited opportunity to engage with the arts.
